Edox Grand Ocean Automatic Chronograph Watch Review Watch Releases

Watches such as this are very hard to get and usually need to be arranged directly through G0S. Good news one of their dealers is located on James List. You may be able to bypass the wait, and give for the retail price of ,600. Pricey maybe, but uniquely Nordic in fashion, and certainly unlike most watches out there.

In a 40mm wide steel case  (water resistant to 30 meters) with brushed finish all the way around, the Pi watch is a good medium-large size watch. The crownless design makes it feel quite svelte and the integrated strap gives it a very seamless feel. The case is widest at the bottom and tapers a bit  toward the top of the case. A thick looking bezel frames a sapphire crystal over the dial - which is itself the most interesting part of the watch. More on that in a bit. The watch strap is a some type of resin plastic that has a satin finish and feel a bit like those used on Casio G-Shock watches. It is flexible and stiff - sort of at the same time. Makes for a very good texture and feel for the strap. It is one solid piece that is held in place to the case via the rear metal plate of the watch (the is attached via a series of screws). You can tell how the watch strap protrudes a bit before bending to wrap around your wrist - this is to have it fit comfortably on most all wrist sizes.

I really wish I could read French right now. It seems that even though I am an attorney I don't quite understand this case. First is the language barrier, and second is the legal barrier.  UPDATE: I've learned that the translated text was so confusing that I got the facts (not the law) of this case wrong. To please see the updated version as follows...

Each watch is a little bit different in size and from about 40-41mm wide in 18k white gold. Inside the watch is a Swiss automatic movement with the time being displayed on the disc through the window. As you can imagine, each watch done with this level of effort (how long do you think it takes the artist to paint each dial? A long time) is exhausting, so the collection is limited in production, though I am not aware of exactly how many pieces. One of the things that I like about this collection from Angular Momentum is that  only a few people in the world are not only going to have this type of watch, but are going to be interested in this type of watch. Eventually watches such as this are going to be in museums for future generations to speculate about. They will wonder about the types of people that purchased timepiece like that, and the social circles that they were worn in. Prices for the watches is likely to be around ,000 each.

I recently discussed the standard Archimede Pilot XL Automatik watch here, for which there is a manually would analog, that has a subsidiary dial. A lot of you mentioned liking the good looks, fine iteration of the pilot watch look, and of course the reasonable price of 0. For those of you who are looking for a bit more, well here is something a bit more special with everything you liked about the original watch with a super nice movement. This is a version of the manually would model of the Pilot XL and has a subsidiary seconds dial. In all its German goodness it has a Swiss movement. Not just any ETA movement, but a "TOP" grade one. What does this mean though?

So it was that the first version of the Ocean Diver was not in compliance with the simple need for a high quality product. Sure it was salable, but it was not what Prometheus desired. The difficult decision was made to rewind the clock so to say and start almost fresh. A new series of suppliers and contractors was obtained so that Prometheus could fulfill its promise to those eagerly anticipating the final result. That being an affordable "Swiss Made" watch with a design that fans competed for. Delays plentiful, the limited edition Ocean Diver received its wink from grace, and is now available.

We start out with learning about what tourbillons are, what they do, why they exist, then why they were "forgotten" for years and years and their sudden comeback. Then we get into why wear a watch at all - not the same as checking the time on your cell phone. Wearing a watch on the underside of your wrist is a topic. Next, fake watches, don't get us started! Wearing your watch at the gym? Then, we talk about the watch industry and watch news (where do you get your watch news).

More interesting are some other watches that Alain Silberstein is apparently at work on. We are talking about hybrid or multi calendar watches. These will be timepieces that have more than one calendar on them. Such as the Gregorian calendar and Hebrew calendar. One watches that is apparently due sometime in 2010 is a triple calendar watches (not that type of triple calendar), that had the Gregorian, Hebrew, and Chinese calendar all on one watch. Probably perpetual calendars at that. Wow! That will be some complex looking (and functioning) timepiece. I can't wait.

Like previous "most complicated watches" the Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie is very conservatively designed but still have some modern elements to it. The case of the watch is probably the most conservative element of the watch. It is attractive, but nothing special. The dial however has a nice cohesive look and is "unoffensive." I do like that Jaeger-LeCoultre took the bold step to have the dial partially skeletonized. Not that this is such a unique move as this has been a trend over the last few years for highly complex and exclusive watches, but Jaeger-LeCoultre chose to remove lots of real estate on the dial for more possible complications. 'Cause, let's be honest, how long is it before someone comes up with a 27 complication watch? I would have loved Jaeger-LeCoultre watch to just blow everyone away by having a 30 + complication watch. Ah, but they would never do that. Not in a second. Learning from computer hardware companies perhaps (slow jumps in processor speed as an example), they are much better off doing a 26 complication watch, then a 27 complication watch, then 28, and you can see how they will swoon collectors each time. Hey, they are a business too right? They can also say "Jaeger LeCoultre has released [X amount] of the most complex watches in the world - sequentially." Maybe they have that up their sleeve? Or getting to 26 complications was just that big of a pain.

I love that the Benthic is a large watch at 48mm wide. Even that big, it's titanium construction makes this grade 5 titanium case and bezel only 109 grams (with the rubber diver's strap). There will eventually be a metal bracelet  available for it. I just wrote about a Timex watch that is 35mm wide - and I think to myself, "what type of man today can get away with a 35mm watch and not look like  he is wearing a kid's watch?" When I hear 48mm wide (especially for a round watch), I get excited and want to try it on. This is me with small wrists, so no worries. If I get a chance to show you some personal pics of the watch on my wrist, I will do so.

See for example this gold Chopard L.U.C Slim. Sure it is a very pretty watch, but the price is probably over ,000. It looks great, but is it "THAT" great? Not sure. The Noramis will set you back about 1,380 euros retail (maybe ,500 bucks in more places). Inside the watch you get a Union caliber 25892A2 (which is really just a Swiss ETA 2829) automatic movement. Realize that the Chopard is manually wound. The Noramis is just 11mm thick, and the case is 40mm wide which is enough given the thin bezel. The crystal of course is sapphire and the case is water resistant to 30 meters.

I've been a Suunto fan ever since I got my first Suunto watch back in college. That was a negative LCD Suunto Observer, and is still one of my favorite digital watches. I was intrigued back then by the Finnish brand that didn't sell "watches," but rather "wrist-top computers." A few battery changes later I still have my Suunto Observer, and now I present to you my review of a brand new Suunto watch. Born out of the new Elementum line, this is the Aqua, and is the most dedicated diving watch I have ever owned. The elegance and simplicity of this watch's functionality is impressive. It is a very focused watch, and requires next to no learning curve to figure out how to use it. It does a few key tasks, and does them very well.

This particular JG1900 (seen is the model JG1900-12) comes in several different colors and in a chronograph or 3 hand model. You can see each of the models in the image. The bright colors against black make for a very attractive , stand-out design that will appeal to a lot of people. As far as fashion watches go, Jorg Gray does a pretty good job at making a solidly made, dependable watch.

If you look at all the details in this Nivrel watch, you'll understand why I like it - especially as compared to many of the other minute repeater watches out there. In a nut shell, you have a base ETA Swiss movement that is highly decorated in a highly polished gold case. The dial is beautifully skeletonized, and the watch has a 5 minute repeater complication. So many nice features for the price of about ,000 - which is far below that which you'd find from a  Swiss made watch as Nivrel is German.
