Looking for something classy, a dress watch to round out your collection of Tag Formula 1s and Chase-Durer watches? How about a real men’s Omega Constellation for under 0? It’s lot #238, here’s a pic of the dial, and don’t miss one of the best casebacks in watch history. Though be aware, the case is 36mm, which will seem diminutive if you’re a Paneristi.
At first I found this watch boring, but the more I understand what it is for, the more I appreciate the strict utility concept behind it. You can see more images of the watch at Archimede's website. Inside the watch is a Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic movement. Price for the Archimede Outdoor is 5 on the leather strap and 5 on the steel bracelet, and they can be ordered online from Archimede here.

Luminosity is supplied by multilayer SuperLuminova on hands, dial and bezel dot. Easily legible for 8-10 hours. Note an interesting design choice: the power reserve is lumed, but the second hand is not:

There is a friggin' city of mechanical parts arranged and designed in such a way that I haven't quite seen before. I am very impressed with how well you can see them right through the dial, Hublot really has kept true to their oath of mixing tradition and futurism. The gold mixed with black and hints of red make this one damn satisfying watch to look at.
Probably not in my opinion. While interesting, I think there is an important lesson to be learned here. Among those lessons is that these student seem to not really have a grasp of good watch design - and why would they? They never learned. Forget the fact that aside from the case, these timepieces don't really have any manner of Tag Heuer design DNA. They also feel a bit flat and overly "CADed" (too reliant on computer aided design). I am not attempting to be overly critical about the result, but rather feel that Tag Heuer might have not been thrilled with the result to choose this trio. Each of the watches in this trio have some excellent parts, but together don't make watch i think would be work making.Read more ›
Jacob & Co. offers the Ghost in a number of styles and decoration. For example, this model is in a PVD steel case with a baguette diamond decorated bezel. There are other diamond bezels available, as well as polished steel cases. Looks like gold might also be available as this prototype has some gold around the pushers. While it is almost heresy to think about a Jacob & Co. watch sans-diamonds, there is a carbon fiber bezel as well that looks pretty cool and sporty. Be sure to realize that the diamond bezel version models are super pricey.
When Hublot puts their sights on something they do aim and fire with the biggest bullet they have. While I doubt they will reach the popularity of Omega in China (which is a totally different kind of brand), Hublot will likely be able to replicate the modern style and fun wearing experience that Hublot has a reputation for in Europe and the United States (among other places as well). From all that I hear China is a very tough market to crack. Many Chinese consumers are interested in fashion and status symbols, as well as wearing and owning "the best." With superlative items being those that speak the loudest to them in terms of wealth and success.Read more ›
Among the people attending the event are Omega’s CEO, head of product development, and head of marketing - a trio of men that a legion of Omega fans would love to get a chance to chat with. Omega chose a curiously small venue to host an event for one of the world’s largest watch brands. Our intimate group makes it easy to forget that in addition to making a very healthy volume of high-end watches each year (with excellent quality to boot), Omega is that popular “moon watch” brand and official timekeeper of the Olympics. It is more than just a watch brand, it is the face of “professional timekeeping equipment” for many people. Here I am wondering if their brand ambassador George Clooney will be joining us.

Wow, wear it in good health Dean!
Inside the watch is a Swiss ETA A07.171 Valgranges movement (which is newer and made for larger watch cases). The neon green watch hands looks like psychedelic versions of those on Patek Philippe Nautilius or Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watches (well aside from the pointed tip).
This year sees three versions of the Clerc Hydroscaph Limited Edition Chronograph watch. This unique piece is attractive as well as functional. Clerc uses a special movement that offers a full 12 hour chronograph with just two subdials. Rather than have two hands in one of the subdials, the main dial is used to measure both the chronograph seconds and the minutes. Wearing them I find the pieces to be extremely cool probably one of Clerc's best creations thus far.Read more ›
Ferrari has had an interesting history with watches. For a long time there were a range of lower-priced quartz watches. Then they worked with high-end brand Girard-Perregaux for some nice watches. After that they entered into what most people generally agree was a failed relationship with Panerai. After that Cabestan produced some very interesting highly limited Ferrari timepieces. There might be even more history that I am not considering. Starting today it is all about Ferrari and Hublot exclusively. With Hublot's strong track record being the official watch maker for Formula 1, they were probably able to show Ferrari all the highly marketable high-end pieces that they can produce. I anticipate some cool watches and events moving forward.
Over on the rear of the watch (through the sapphire exhibition window) is a more complete view into the skeletonization and decoration process. In my opinion it is very classy and tasteful and one of Tissot's top Sculpture Line pieces. It is even suitable as a daily wearer if you don't mind manually wound watches. One thing that isn't clear to me is how the crocodile strap fits to the case. In some images it has a more traditional straight end that sits between the lugs close to, but not touching the case. In other images, it uses a fitted strap that conforms to the shape of the case. I just don't know which one is actually used.Read more ›
