Attention Citizen Campanola Fans: Excellent Price For Accessorized Tonneau Perpetual Calandar Watch Sales & Auctions Here is one of those very classy Citizen Campanola watches that I would love to own. This is a model number AG6210-03E, sporting a curvy tonneau case, and a full perpetual calendar laid out in avant garde Campanola fashion. Like all excellent Citizen Campanola watches, this represents the best Japanese watch company Citizen has to offer in these hand decorated and handmade watches. I've discussed these watches at length, and you can read my many thoughts on them in these articles.

The Citizen Calibre line is a good idea. Citizen takes design cues and complications from popular luxury watches and mixes them in a no-hassle attractive design. The result has been a steam of attractively conservative watches that require no battery and are easy to live with. I fact, Citizen watches are much like Toyota cars (Toyota Sussex), both Japanese, and both something you can live with everyday. They might not exude passion or stand out as much as other watches, but you'll never complain and you cannot beat the price. Then again, moving upmarket, Campanola is to Citizen as Lexus is to Toyota.

The Valjoux 7751 is based on the very popular Valjoux 7750 chronograph. The 7751 adds several complications including: moonphase, synchronized 24 hour time indicator, full calendar with the month, day of the week, and date around the periphery of the face. The 7751 is of course an automatic, and the Temption offers a lovely see-through case back. My version has a gold, or gold-plated version of the movement, but I have seen movements which are just steel. Overall, the movement is not the subject of this review but I have been happy with it. Often times, the complications of a movement require some quirky operations. For example, the system for correcting the date could be more intuitive, but this is an issue with the movement, not the watch.

When I finally was able to feel the watch, I was so impressed. Really nice quality for what I thought was a bargain watch (compared to the Chanel J12). It cost me just a few hundred dollars, and eBay auctions are mad over the watch with intense bidding. The ceramic composition of the watch is unlike steel in many ways. We are talking about very high grade ceramic materials with an attractive glossy finish that will never scratch. The interposed steel is highly polished and the entire watch gives off a lovely gleam. Few of my other watches have attracted so many compliments. I suppose other people love this watch as much as I do.

The Orbita Tourbillon is the Porsche of watch winders. It's modern, sleek, sexy, and it ain't cheap. But for the enthusiast who wants the best for his watches, the Orbita will keep them running with both style and precision.

Limited Edition Limes Endurance Rallye Chronograph On eBay: Quality Heritage Racing Watch Watch Releases I cannot say that I frequently look at my watch while driving. If I did, all that would ensue is a traffic hazard from my prolonged glare. However, drivers on a track often use their watches to measure speed. Why not use a speedometer? Well that would be just too easy. Using a tachymeter on a watch, you can measure your speed if you are able to accurately measure the distance of one mile. You start the chronograph function upon passing the mile start marker, and stop it at the mile end marker. The seconds counting hand will point to your speed as indicated by the numbers around the bezel.

The Junghans Aviator Chronograph is available with a leather strap or steel bracelet. Size is 42.5mm wide. The face is sapphire crystal, and the bezel is nicely tuned to be functional but not a copy of the Breitling. Junghans character abounds in this watch, and I believe it is an excellent direction from the atomic watch experts. Junghans is one of those companies that has been around for a very long time and know how to make a solid and well built watch, using the latest technology (they were one of the firsts to utilize carbon fiber in their watches). Here they begin to flex their design muscles and enter a new realm of interesting and useful watch products. Expect pricing to be reasonable and I am guess about 00 or less.

Lets hope watch makers take heed soon. If you want to write to a watch maker, the best tactic is to email their marketing or sales department, and CC the e-mail to one or more stores that carry the watch.

LIP Watches Rediscovered And Rereleased On Watchismo: Iconic Retro Future Cool

I've pondered this issue at some length and identified at least three areas of interest or personality traits that should exist in each watch lover. Those are appreciation of engineered utility, art appreciation, and the propensity to be a collector.

Tourneau is a New York based chain of watch stores. Appropriately, they carry a multitude of brands from the affordable mainstream to the ultra-high-end. Each store has differing brands based upon the location, but expect to find no less than 15-20 watch manufactures including Tag Heuer, Rolex, Breitling, and Longines. Brands located in the store as many high-end watch makers prefer to have just one authorized dealer in a given city. Las Vegas of course does not subscribe to this mentality or rule.

The Seiko commercial last night was very short, and reminded me of a cologne commercial (due to the fact you have no idea what the commercial is trying to sell until you see the product at the end). It was one of the shorter commercials and lasted maybe 20 seconds if that. You had some stylized shots of a man swimming. Then a quick mention about how the Seiko Coutura can measure three time elapsations at once (at least on one model), followed by a closeup view of the watch's face (the best part of the commercial). The Coutura is a fine watch, not particularly glamorous or exciting, but nice. The Seiko Coutura line of watches has many iterations, but each shares the same riveted or angular bezel and arrow hands design. Seiko has done much better designing their diver watches, but the Coutura's non-offensive and marginally unique feel will appeal to many mainstream watch buyers. Japan is more known for making interesting and technical watches, rather than beautiful ones.

WINNER: It is probably no surprise that the Jules Audemars Clinton Foundation Equation of Time watch is the winner. With its superior price, complexity and namesake, it was just too much for the Audemars Piguet Arnold Schwarzenegger Royal Oak Offshore. Nevertheless, in other battles the Schwarzenegger watch would have won if the criteria had been more limited to strength and size. Good thing we value a well rounded leader. The Clinton watch remains the ultimate watch you want to own. You don't even get one for being elected President. Better start saving.

Steampunk Art Watch Evolution On eBay Watch Style From popular artist Olga Narozhna comes the next piece in her steampunk line of handcrafted watch art. Her last piece was similar but used a digital, rather than analog timepiece. This time she incorporates a traditional mechanical watch with an elaborate skeletonized movement. I think this time she really nailed it when she used an analog movement that was skeletonized. Being able to view the intricacies of the clockwork is what steampunk is all about, and the rich leather cuff compliments the metal work nicely.

Hamilton Below Zero Diver Watch: Art Deco Industrial Diving Instrument Design Watch Releases

Going along with my appreciation for the Limes brand in general, I like the Endurance 1Tausend Diver watch for its simplicity in sophisticated operation, and high quality construction. Look for them soon, and expect a fair price of under ,000 if my calculations are correct.

Outcome: Although both are winners in most all regards, President Clinton beats out Mr. Schwarzenegger. Not only does he have the permanent protection of the Secret Service, but he also has been able to effectively use his accent, where Schwarzenegger still fumbles on the pronunciation of the state where he is governor.

I was very lucky to find this extremely special Kobold Soarway Diver. Of course, I couldn't pass it up.

Rarewatches.net is one of the uncommon places to buy and sell some of these watches. The UK-based web store has a good selection of rare and interesting watches. At the very least you should know that these watches exist. While not all from the 70s, most of the these watches are a product of that era. There you can find a multitude of offerings from such brands as Sorna, Yerma, and 70s styled watches from many popular watch makers such as Jaeger LeCoultre , Bulova, and Seiko. Wonderful designs that you may have never even known about before. The Watchismo Times also regularly discusses watches from this era and have some available in its shop.

For IWC, that watch represented the Ingenieur, and it was a large success. While today's Ingenieur line is very technical looking and futuristic, its roots contain a very conservative demeanor with what can only be described as a "scientific twist." The IWC Vintage Ingenieur is a highly legible watch (its main function) with an emphasis on precision. Bold dagger hands contain a strip of luminant, while small points of luminant are located at the hour indicators around the perimeter of the watch along with smaller points for each of the 5 minute indicators. This usage of small points as minute indicators in conjunction with raised pointed hour markers is a hallmark of the IWC Ingenieur series, and recaptured in the Vintage Ingenieur.

As I walked upstairs that day I was immediately greeted by Pierre. I am not at the point where I can afford a DeWitt watch (in fact I might never be at that point), but that didn't stop them from treating me like a valued client. My enthusiasm for talking about watches was enough, and for that I was genuinely touched. My typical experience with high end watch dealers consists of them briefly acknowledging me, and faster still dismissing me as a non-sale for the observable future. That day was different, and I wanted to make the most of it.

The Land Instrument can be purchased alone for about 00 (depending on exchange rates, or together with a Linde Werdelin Elemental or Two Timer watch, which acts as a cradle for the Land Instrument to be worn on the wrist. Together with a watch, the two items are between 00-00. Not cheap, but another of those enviable watches that people will want to know about. Do check out the product page as linked above to read about this impressive watch and piece of personal sensorship.

The article by Robert on FratelloWatches illustrates this concept well, and attempts a few partial explanations. While the reasons are not all clear, the consumer knows about the status quo of many a watch company, and their timid relationship (or even outright aggression) when it comes to the internet and "authorized dealer" maintenance.

There is a new diving watch brand in town. It is not particularly unique or exciting to me, and it looks like the bastard love child of Ocean7 and NauticFish. "Style" copying in the watch world is pretty prevalent as the look of a watch is almost impossible to copyright. The only practical things you can protect from an intellectual property standpoint on a watch are the logo (trademark), and potentially functional elements that you can get a patent on. Of course assuming they satisfy the requirements to be patentable. As for expressive elements like style, it is hard as hell to protect them with copyright as most of it has been done before in some watch at some point.

With the year, month, leap year, date, and day of the week, you have just about every calendar function you need on this watch, and it really displays it with style. For example, The day of the week indicator is not a circular dial, but a jumping dial that will jump back to Sunday, right after Saturday. Notice the pictures on the auction page to see what I am referring to. The blue finish on the hands contrasted on the various textures in steel in one of the greatest classic styles you can find on a watch. This mixture of color and machine look has been around since the 18th century, and is still alive and well today. The Campanola series really excels at making "classic," "modern," with a hint of Japanese design and minimalism.
