Lets talk about relief vs. etching/engraving. The former refers to practice of creating an image that rises from a surface, while the latter refer to the practice are carving into a surface. Relief work is more complex, and more expensive. A well tuned laser or etching tool can easily engrave a number of patterns, but relief work requires special equipment, especially with a high relief, which requires the design to be part of the actual piece it is located on. This is one area where the Nettuno 3 and Tridente differ. The Marcello C. diving watch logo exists on both the crown of the watch, and on the caseback. On the Nettuno 3, the design is etched into the metal, while on the Tridente, the design is done in relief, popping out at you. This element perhaps does not go to the heart of functionality, but is a notable aesthetic feature where the two watches differ. Relief logos are more expensive. As such, the more expensive Tridente exhibits more expensive aesthetic work.

The story behind the Privee RX watch winder is perhaps the most interesting part of this product. Originally designed under orders from Breguet, Orbita set out to make a luxury watch winder for the exclusive Breguet watch brand. Nearing the end of the project Breguet pulled out of the deal because the Privee RX watch winder did not have enough Swiss parts. In fact, 50% of the Privee RX is made in the USA. Now Breguet's loss, the Privee RX is to be beta tested among watch enthusiasts for eventual sale at high end watch stores. The full story of the Privee RX watch winder with Breguet can be found here.

I am typically not one for celebrity gossip. As far as I am concerned, celebrities, for the most part, are just like you and me, but less intelligent, with more money, and with lots more free time on their hands. But when you combine watches and celebrities I get a bit interested, if not for sheer voyeuristic intentions.

This is craftsman level work from skilled workers in a boutique industry. Let IWW know if you have any questions, I am sure they will be happy to work with you.
Because a watch movement relies on predictable oscillation of the balance wheel and release of the mainspring, magnetic forces can have a profound effect on the rotation of the balance wheel and the mainspring. To protect these components, watch makers had to make watch cases impermeable to magnetism. Some of the most effective solutions involved adding a layer of iron into the watch cases, or other non-magnetic metals. I am by no means an expert, but the solutions seems to be work well, and the large watch makers each had their new types of resistant watches.
Citizen made the right decision to keep the face free from too much clutter. The seconds hand is intentionally kept a darker color as to not take away from the face. Further, the date window is placed well, not disrupting symmetry too much. Inside the watch is a Citizen Eco-Drive movement, that as most of you know is light powered, meaning you never need a battery. I have owned several watches that contain this movement and have generally good things to say about them. They hold charges for a long time, and just need to be in sun or room light everyone once in a while to maintain good time. The movements are hardy and can take a beating too.
Sinn, Limes, and Temption each utilize movement kits, but make their own very high-quality cases. Often times these watch makers will copy each other in terms of design, but the results are always pleasing. Temption is the most unique of these brands in terms of style, while Sinn produces arguably the most rugged and utilitarian watches. Limes on the other hand makes classic-looking watches at very affordable prices.

The legibility of the watch has never failed me. The hands are classically shaped without being too obtrusive; they are often referred to as "baton hands". One minor complaint about the Marcello C Nettuno 3 has been that it is not bright enough in darkness. It is true that it could have more super Luminova coated on the hands, but they would then suffer from looking too blotchy as the luminent on hands must be thick in order to radiate more light. The hands are purposefully delicate to increase legibility, and I have personally never had trouble reading the hands in darkness. If you are someone who requires bright watches for night viewing, there are other watches available that have very large, richly coated hands and number indicators that will serve for such purposes. The Nettuno 3 remains classic and aesthetic despite its utilitarian roots.

The JFA Four Watch Winder is also really quiet and only takes up as much space as necessary. I have two of them sitting next to each other, and I love them. They are easily the best watch winders I have ever owned. At a retail price of just under 0, they are not especially cheap, but they are a bargain given the market. If you are looking for a well designed watch winder at a reasonable price that is function first, and actually looks interesting while operating, my advice is to go with a JFA watch winder.

Do you remember playing with spy toys as a kid? Those plastic things that you wished came in professional quality? Well I remember, and I think most of the real stuff was reserved for the CIA, and alike agencies. And now, when I am (publicly) too old to play with toys, comes Veldini with its Q watches. Three models are due for release, the Q; Outdoor, Spy, and Everyday. Further the watches will come in three materials, sterling Silver, yellow gold, and rose gold. Prices depend on the material used and will range from ,000 to ,000 dollars.
Behold the BR 02. The Success of the Bell & Ross BR 01 really brought Bell & Ross back into the ether. The small company was basically sharing their name with Sinn, and selling Sinn watches to different markets. There was nothing wrong with the Bell & Ross watches, but they weren't as innovative as they were mere quality time tellers. Then a few years ago the airplane instrument inspired BR-01 watch was released in a wave of design controversy. Some said it was too square, some said it was too big, others said that it made no sense. And still others loved the idea.

We are lucky that Seiko spends as much time as they do in the lab dreaming up new movements. In fact, Seiko watches now come in at least five different movement flavors. You can get a traditional quartz movement, an automatic mechanical movement, a quartz Kinetic movement, a quartz Kinetic Direct Drive movement, and a quartz regulated Spring Drive mechanical movement. Seiko's dream seems to be combining the best of both worlds in terms of quartz and mechanical movements. Arguably the Spring Drive embodies this dream as it looks like an automatic mechanical movement, but has the accuracy of a quartz movement.
